Event Details

The Princeton Event is an opportunity for YSAP students, their parents, mentors, and teachers to discuss science and engineering generally in the context of YSAP projects, college admissions, and career opportunities. Students and teachers will have the opportunity to meet with mentors to discuss YSAP projects over a continental breakfast and lunch.  Students will also tour research laboratories on the Princeton campus and discuss career opportunities in the sciences and engineering with established leaders in academia and industry.

There will be presentations on how to make oneself stand out when applying to college, the financial aid process for parents, a teachers' forum on motivating students toward math and science, and a short session on preparing for the final reports and presentations at the Liberty Science Center. Optional campus tours are also available toward the end of the program.

Come join the fun and festivities!

Young Science Achievers

The Young Science Achievers Program offers grants of up to $500 to fund science research projects carried out by high school students. YSAP serves public and private high schools (grades 9 through 12) throughout the state of New Jersey and New York City and is open to all applicants but targets young women of any ethnicity and males of African American, Hispanic, or Native American descent. A goal of this program is to increase the number of participants from underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering and math fields. Additional support in the form of mentorship from professionals from world-class research institutions and leadership from dedicated high school science teachers is provided. Together the students, mentors and teachers spend the winter and spring semesters designing and conducting experiments from a wide variety of science and engineering fields.
